In this workshop, participants will become familiar with the skills required for analogue instrument design and construction. A fully functional light-controlled synthesizer (which is played much like a Theremin) will be built from scratch by each participant. The build involves a number of steps including wiring and soldering components to the circuit board, adding an on/off switch to the circuit and mounting in an aluminium enclosure. By the end of this workshops participants will gain the necessary skills to begin designing and assembling their own analogue instruments.

This course is run by _maker, a learning platform for musicians, instrumentalists and sound artists who wish to create their own electronic equipment. Our mission is to show the world that electronics is practical, fun, and not nearly as complicated and inaccessible as some bad experiences from our school days may have made us think. Website →
